Wild Flowers of New England

June 12, 2025 | 7:00pm

Boston Athenæum

Photographs of daisies, lilies, ferns, milkweed, and other plants greet visitors at Wild Flowers of New England, a Boston Athenæum exhibition highlighting the work of Massachusetts-based photographer Edwin Hale Lincoln. Through his ventures in the forests surrounding his Berkshire home, his lenses captured the timeless beauty of New England’s wildflowers and the enduring impact of botanical art. A simple yet poignant horn trio accompanies this peaceful exhibit with a selection of chamber music inspired by the beauties found in a garden. Beginning with selections such as Wan-Yun Liang’s Flying Blossom in Spring and Florence Price’s The Deserted Garden, this harmonious concert will end with Johannes Brahms’ nature-inspired work, the Horn Trio in E-flat Major, Op. 40.

We invite you to join BFO Artistic Director Alyssa Wang and BFO musicians in an intimate dialogue about what it means to experience art, and how it can help us to relate to the world around us. This concert is free, but tickets are required!

Enhance your concert experience by arriving early! Audience members will have access to the exhibit starting at 6 PM, before the performance begins. Please note that the exhibit will not be open for viewing after the concert.
