Opportunity: Social Media Intern

Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid) 

Duration: Fall 2024 

Hours: 10-15 hours per week 

Compensation: Unpaid / For Credit 

Duration: September 30, 2024 - December 13, 2024 

 

Position Overview 

The Boston Festival Orchestra is seeking a creative and motivated Social Media Intern to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing and social media management within the arts sector. The intern will play a key role in enhancing the orchestra’s online presence and engaging with our audience through creative content and strategic initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities 

Content Creation: Develop and design engaging content (including graphics, photos, and videos) for the BFO’s social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

● Social Media Management: Schedule and publish posts, monitor engagement, and interact with followers to build and maintain a strong online community. 

● Strategy Development: Collaborate with the team to create and implement social media strategies that align with the BFO’s mission and upcoming events. 

● Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze the performance of social media campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement. 

● Event Promotion: Assist in the promotion of BFO events, including concerts, educational programs, and community outreach initiatives. 

● Brand Alignment: Ensure all social media content is consistent with BFO’s brand voice, values, and mission.

What We’re Looking For 

● Creative Thinker: Someone with fresh ideas, a passion for storytelling through visual and written content, and a grasp on current trends and how they overlap with our organization and industry.

● Strong Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail and tone. 

● Social Media Savvy: Experience with major social media platforms and a basic understanding of analytics tools. 

● Interest in the Arts: A genuine interest in music, the arts, and community engagement, with a desire to learn more about nonprofit arts management. 

● Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
